Susan Turner



Manages the Studio Office & Teaches Yoga Classes
at The Dance Element in Wilmington NC.





Susan Turner began ballet, tap, jazz, acrobatics, & gymnastics at age 5 and was assisting her teachers by age 14.  In college, she started exploring African, Persian, & Latin American dance styles with Cindy Mason at UNCW, as well as Modern dance, Yoga & Creative Movement with Doris Levy.

​She received her Bikram Yoga Certification in 2001 and enjoys teaching Yoga to Children & Adults.





Susan has danced professionally with Forward Motion Dance Company since 2006 and performed in many local dance concerts including:

  • Arts Sensation
  • Dance-a-lorus
  • Wilmington Dance Festival
  • Cape Fear Arts in Motion


She taught several age groups at Friends School of Wilmington, where she also led after-school art & yoga programs & assisted with musical productions.





Susan spent the summer of 2010 with The Dance Element’s Summer Performance Camp, teaching a Yoga workshop and starring as "Grandfather" in the culminating production of Peter and the Wolf.


She returned as Assistant Director for this Summer Intensive Dance Program in both 2011 & 2012 and delivered unforgettable performances in the roles of "Nana" in The Velveteen Rabbit (2011,) and “Mr. Arable” in Charlotte’s Web (2012.)



In 2016, Susan became The Dance Element’s Office Manager. She feels blessed to be part of such a wonderful dance community.





Susan is a gifted dancer, a wonderful mentor,
& an inspiring teacher.



She is thrilled to be spending another season with The Dance Element, managing the studio office, teaching occasional Yoga classes for Kids & Adults, performing & assisting with stage productions, & sharing her positive energy with our dance family.
