Manny Lloyd



Teaches All Boys Dance Classes
& Hip Hop Classes for Kids & Adults
at The Dance Element in Wilmington NC.





From a toddler, jamming to the “Fresh Prince” theme,
to a teenager, leaping through the air in ballet class...



Manny Lloyd has always been in love with Dance!





He loves how dancing enables one to get lost in sounds & rhythm, and he loves how dance can become a thread, connecting the imagination of choreography with the institution of physical form.



The first-born son of a renowned Wilmington musician & the oldest of eight siblings,


Manny is a natural leader
​with music in his soul!





Manny began his dance training at The Dance Element & grew to become a Senior Member of the
Element Productions Dance Performance Company.



In 2010, Manny was awarded the studio’s highest honor,
The “Miss Gracie" Memorial Dance Scholarship.





While studying ballet, jazz, & modern dance,
Manny discovered an aptitude for movement
& an affinity for showmanship!



He performed the lead role in a stellar rendition of

Michael Jackson’s THRILLER!





Manny was featured in numerous works of original choreography including all-time favorites:

  • Race to the Moon
  • Ghost of Stephen Foster
  • Me & Bobby McGee




With his portrayal of “Max” in The Dance Element’s
original adaptation of Maurice Sendak’s

Where The Wild Things Are

Manny delivered one of the most
celebrated performances in studio history!





Manny played a vital role in the development of
a Boys’ Dance Program at The Dance Element.



His tremendous athletic ability and Herculean physical strength quickly negated any fears that dancing was “girl stuff,” and enticed a number of younger boys to take a closer look at the art & SPORT of dance.





Manny assisted with teaching The Dance Element’s first All Boys Dance Class.


His expert mentoring eventually led this group of male students to perform some truly unforgettable dance numbers. To these excited young boys, for whom Manny became both a hero and an idol, his passion for dance was a contagious energy.


Years later, Manny is still somewhat of
a Dance Element Legend!


His natural talent & genuine LOVE of dance have paved the way for many Boy Dance Students and set the bar for what they aspire to achieve.





In 2021, Manny was featured by Star News
as one of Wilmington NC's "40 Under 40!"



Since his time as a Dance Element student, Manny’s positive energy, excellent leadership skills, & charismatic personality have led him to find continued success.


He served as Cultural Enrichment Programs Coordinator in the Upperman African American Cultural Center at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, where he earned his bachelor's & master's degrees in political science.





After graduating high school, Manny returned several times to perform with the Element Productions Company. He came "home” nearly every Spring to help with our annual Showcase, happily moving heavy set pieces & assisting dance students backstage.





Manny officially joined The Dance Element's faculty in 2018 & he has been teaching Hip Hop Classes for Kids & Adults & All-Boys Hip Hop & Dance Classes, ever since! 



Manny is truly an inspiration.



We are thrilled for the fortunate students
exposed to his enthusiasm!

Manny is very grateful for the creative outlet, life lessons, & lifelong friendships he has gained from being a dancer. He is excited to continue sharing his knowledge, talent, & passion for Hip Hop with Children & Adults at The Dance Element.
